Ninja Gaiden Sega-Master SystemJust as the Game Gear version of Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden for Sega Master System was a reprogrammed version of the NES version by Tecmo. Sega bought the Ninja Gaiden License from Tecmo and made their own version of the game, while keeping things close enough to the original so the game still felt like Ninja Gaiden. Gameplay-wise, though some changes had been made, Sega gamers were treated to quite a fine Ninja Gaiden experience. The speed, the action and the flow of the gameplay was right on. Which unfortunately can not be said about the games graphics. Technically the Master System shouldn’t have had any problems with competing with the NES, so someone at over at SEGA must have been sleeping in class or maybe it was just laziness. The detailed backgrounds we were used to from the NES versions, were now replaced by flat looking and boring backgrounds. But more than some bad graphics was need to take away the fact that Ninja Gaiden for Sega Master System was quite the game, and SEGA had not put the Ninja Gaiden license to shame…yet. |
